The Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board announces the 2016 recipient of the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board\u2019s Outstanding Award of Excellence and Dedication is awarded to Lori Berard, RN, CDE \u00ae , practicing at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority \u2010 Health Science Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Lori joins fellow CDE \u00ae s, Michelle Corcoran, RD, Fredericton, NB; Sondra Sherman, P.Dt., Montreal, PQ; Kathy Gallaher, RN, Nanaimo, BC, as a recipient of this sought after award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner of the CDE \u00ae \/EAD \u00ae Award of Excellence and Dedication was Lori Berard. Standing with Lori as she accepts her award are (L-R) Dr. Ronald J Sigal, Co-Chair of Professional Section CDA, Michelle Corcoran, Co-Chair of Professional Section CDA, Lori, Judith Hill Chair of the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board and Vice Chair Peter Senior. The award was presented at the CDA Awards Breakfast during the CSEM Conference in Ottawa.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Lori Berard RN CDE \u00ae continues to be active with the Diabetes Educator Section, of the Canadian Diabetes Association educating both patients and health care providers at local and national levels. She is currently the Nurse Manager of the Diabetes Research Group at Health Science Centre \/ University of Manitoba. Her nominator describes Lori as a \u201cwell known volunteer and speaker for the CDA (Canadian Diabetes Association) for many years and has volunteered thousands of hours of time from reviewing research papers for the CPG (Clinical Practice Guidelines) to helping an educator prep for the CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) exam. Lori\u2019s lifework has been around diabetes care in helping support clients in management and encourage health care providers by always being willing to educate and share information.\u201d Lori Berard will be presented with the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board\u2019s Award of Excellence and Dedication during the CDA\/CSEM Professional Conference and Annual Meetings, October 26 \u2013 29, 2016 at the Shaw Convention Centre, Ottawa, Ontario. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
